July is here and the sun is shinning, well it is as I write this blog, whether it is by the time you read this who knows!! So what’s going on this month, I have an exhibition at The Tilted Angel, Boscastle, and if the weather is good I will be painting outside the guest gallery. So please if you are local to Boscastle between 20th – 26th July please come by and say Hi.
Life is good for me, and I hope it is for you too. Not everything is perfect, but I try to make the most of each day and the positive interactions I have with the people I meet. I love hearing about their days and the stories they carry from their experiences. I tuck those stories away, and when I return to my studio, I write them down; sometimes, they become the spark of a new painting. Storytelling is at the heart of my art, and knowing that so many of you connect with those stories brings me real joy.
Do you have a meaningful story you would like me to tell? We can work together, beginning with you sharing your story and then identifying the moments that matter most. I will ask questions and suggest compositional ideas as we shape it together. Because this is your story I will be painting, I may ask you to explore it from different angles. Like a diamond, each facet reveals the story in a new light and offers another beautiful view.
Whether it is your love story, a piece of family history, or your personal journey, you can have it reimagined as an original work of art. I paint people’s stories in an abstract form, using colour, marks, movement, and gestures as the words that tell them. Together, these elements create a visual language that captures the feeling, meaning, and emotion behind your story, rather than simply illustrating it. The finished piece will become a striking centrepiece for your home, something with real impact and personal significance, and an artwork to pass down through the generations. More than an original painting, it will be part of your story held in colour, texture, and paint.
