Hi Everyone, Yes I know I said the C word, Christmas! I just cannot believe how fast this year has gone already. Who can believe we are half way through the year, I jolly well can’t.
So Cornwall Open Studios 25 is over but what a fantastic experience that was. You may know that I live in a small hamlet in North Cornwall and unless you are coming to this or the neighbouring hamlet you won’t pass my house. So having 46 people come to see my work was fantastic. It was so lovely to meet other artists, and art lovers alike. I got lots of positive feedback, a sale and dates in the diary for return viewings as well as a piece on hold.
During the week I also became a visitor and went to view 3 studios. Sophie Fordham, a print maker, ceramicist and painter. http://www.sophiefordham.com Her studio was set in such an idyllic spot surrounded by nature and inspiration. Then I went to see my good friend Julie Wrathall, one of the UKs leading Encaustic Artists, her work is amazing and all created in molten wax. I highly recommend that you go to her page to see what I mean. http://www.artyheaven.com Next it was off to the most magical sculpture garden created by Mike Dickinson. His artwork is so beautiful, he is self taught and has an amazing creative eye for detail. http://www.mikedickinsoncreative.com Just along the road from Mike was Lucian Stained Glass studio created by Jude Goss. Again yet another amazing, inspiring artists to meet and speak with. She runs classes and takes commissions. http://www.lucianstainedglass.com So if you were unable to make it to Cornwall Open Studios you can use the links and go straight to the artists websites as well as taking a look at Cornwall Open Studios website to see all the artists that were involved in the event.http://www.cornwallopenstudios.co.uk
So what else have I got going on this month, well I will be one of 5 Artists in Residence at Truro High School for Girls, in Truro. So for two weeks we will be working in one of their art studios. I can’t give anymore information other than that as we are yet to have our meeting to discuss how it is going to go, but keep an eye on my socials to see updates as I go along as well as an update on her next month. The residency is part of the Prime Women Artists, a group of 150 female artists all based in Cornwall. As a group they share information, learning and support. Also putting on exhibitions around Cornwall. http://www.primewomenartistscornwall.co.uk why not take a look and see what this group of artists are up to or have planned.
On the house renovation front we are slowly making progress, it is a five year project but we are counting from this year. The reason being our first year in Cornwall was spent getting to know our neighbours, on the beach and having family and friends to stay. But we also needed to live in the house to get a real feel for it and take time to decide what we want to do, as we only want to do it the once, without making expensive mistakes! To see what we have done and to keep up with our progress please follow our Instagram account for the house http://www.instagram.com/the.old.cornish.school.house
So I think that is it for this month, except to say that my gallery will be Open by Appointment from now until the foreseeable future so if you are interested in visiting please call and let us book a date in the diary as I would love to give you a personal introduction to my original artwork.
Have a great rest of the month, don’t forget to check out my socials and see you next month. Please don’t forget to sign up to my newsletter to keep you up to date with all that is going on, from being the first to know about new releases of work to up coming exhibitions.
