September – Back to school

I don’t know about you but one of the few things I loved about school was getting new stationary and equipment for a new school year. All the little bits and pieces for my pencil case and new brushed for my art bag. So with that in mind I will be off to the art shop to purchase new equipment and materials. I have missed going into the art shops and so pleased that they are all open again. One of my favourites is Pullingers based in Farnham, Epsom and Kingston. Larger materials like canvases I get delivered by ordering them online www.pullingers.com

We have our 1st Anniversary of The Bloomz International Arthouse Collective Online Show coming up this month.

Friday 24th September 7pm UK time.

Saturday 25th September 10am & 7pmm UK time.

Tickets are complimentary but you must sign up to book your place. To get your ticket please go to www.thebloomz.co.uk

Do give yourself and hour or so to attend as it is like going to visit a gallery and there will be lots to see.

The main difference to our event from other online galleries is that you will have the opportunity to meet all the artists and spend time with them in their studios. You can watch their show reels and ask any questions you like, join in conversations with other visitors too. It really is a social event.

We have 12 artists from 6 nations (no I am not talking about the Rugby!), all with very different styles of art, truly there will be something for everyone’s taste available; Sculpture, Abstract Art, Figurative, Landscapes, Seascapes, Fantasy and Animals Artwork, all in various mediums from the traditional Watercolours and Oils to Encaustic Wax, Mixed Media, Fibres and even Chewing Gum!

I will only be in my studio on the Friday evening so please do come and see me.

It was through the very first lockdown that we all met up online participating in an online course. Who could have imagined that in September 2020 we would be having our very first art show and here we are a year later celebrating that milestone together.

So what else has been happening for me – well I have been creating both in writing and drawing this last month or so, though with a new baby in the family I will admit I do get distracted easily so it is lucky they don’t live with me otherwise I wouldn’t get any work done 😊

I am trying out ideas for a new series of work, which I hope to share with you in January, though I will give you sneaky peeks along the way. I am creating more collage work using a range of different materials and hoping that they will strike a connection with you.

I am hoping to have an Open Studio weekend towards the end of October also to bring back Paintings and Prosecco evenings in Spring 2022. I will keep you posted.

Between now and the second week of December I have to get my commissions completed and sent off, then fingers crossed and Covid permitting will make a flying visit to see my eldest son and his family in Spain. It will be the first time since my last visit in December 2019 due to the pandemic, like so many families it has been hard not seeing them, video calls just aren’t the same though I am grateful for the technology that keeps us connected.

Don’t forget to book your free tickets to The Bloomz Online Show www.thebloomz.co.uk , it would be lovely to see you there.

See you all next month  – Sammy xx
